Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner for West Yorkshire (United Kingdom) – Project Coordinator

 

LOGO-WYPWest Yorkshire Police serves a population of around 2.2 million people living in one of the five metropolitan districts of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield. The physical area, of some 2000 Square kilometres or 780 square miles, contains the West Yorkshire conurbation and a network of motorway and trunk roads that allow easy access to and from other population centres. WYP play a critical role in the organisation and management of regional emergencies; they are a key member of both the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Resilience Forum and the West Yorkshire Resilience Forum (formed in 2004) which is made up of executive officers from the organisations responsible for protecting the public in emergency and crisis situations – including all emergency services, health agencies, the Environment Agency and local councils.

 

Sheffield Hallam University (United Kingdom) – Technical  Coordinator

LOGO-SHUCENTRIC (Centre of excellence in terrorism, resilience, intelligence & organised crime research) is a multi-disciplinary and end-user centred research body, located within the Cultural, Communication and Computing Research Institute (C3RI) at Sheffield Hallam University  The strategic aim of CENTRIC is to develop the intersection between four key stakeholders in the security domain: Citizens, Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA’s), Industry and Academia to provide a platform for researchers, practitioners, policy makers and the public to focus on applied research in the Security domain. CENTRIC has close links with local, national and international LEAs and security specialist groups and is currently collaborating with a number of law enforcement agencies and leading technology providers. CENTRIC builds on over six years of work by a range of colleagues across government, academia and the private sector. CENTRIC team has experience of coordinating more than 20 EU and International large research project.

Crowd monitoring and control is one of the new safety and security functions that Thales wants to add in its command & control systems.

Fraunhofer Institute (Germany)

CRISMART (Sweden) 

CRiSMART (Center for Crisis Management Research and Training) is part of the Swedish Defence University (SEDU, alsLOGO-crismarto previously known as the Swedish National Defence College). SEDU offers a wide variety of courses in security, strategy, leadership, crisis management, international law, and military studies to both civilian and military students. CRiSMART combines first-hand experiences and multi-disciplinary scientific methods in developing and disseminating knowledge on crisis management. Drawing upon its strong research foundation, CRiSMART provides analytical support and training activities in efforts to help organizations to deepen their understanding of crisis situations and strengthen their crisis management capabilities. CRiSMART has close links with senior policy and decision makers, as well as key players in the community, academia, and business. In addition, it has strong expertise in understanding cognitive processes of crisis management and communications and evolving news production processes.

Municipality of Ljubljana (Slovenia)

The city’s disaster management department is one of 20 departments, offices and services of the City of Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia. Its overarching aim is constant enhancement of the safety of the citizens with regard to disasters of natural and technological origin. This is achieved through two main goals: First is raising the level of  performance of emergency services: shortening of response time, upgrading technical, tactical and personal capabilities, stimulated cooperation between services, enhancing their organisational competencies. The second is fostering resilience to disasters in the sphere of city administration, public companies and services, private sector and citizens as individuals. In working to the second goal technical and social science based research and its application is one of the essential constitutive elements.

Established in 1922, Ljubljana Fire Brigade is the oldest and the largest professional fire brigade in Slovenia. Together with 35 voluntary stations forms Fire Service of the City of Ljubljana. Fire service is not responsible only for firefighting. In accordance with the regulation and according to risks and vulnerability on our territory, we also perform general rescue tasks, rescue in the case of floods, earthquakes, traffic accidents, accidents with dangerous substances, storms, high snow, sleet, etc. Commander of the Fire brigade is also commander of the whole Fire service. Fire Brigade has 150 professional firefighters, voluntary stations have 900 volunteer firefighters who provide their service for the City of Ljubljana with 300.000 permanently registered inhabitants.
